Worms and Bugs

Nalani found an earthworm and fell in love. She named it Wormy. She man-handled it for about a half hour and then decided to put him down for a nap since he "looked tired". Imagine her surprise when she found him in the exact same spot 3 hours later! After she laid him down for another nap, I snuck over and moved him so she would think he had gone to "be with his family". She was satisfied with this, but has been searching for "Wormy" ever since.Paul and Brigg found a stick bug. It was pretty cool. They didn't kill him. That's a good thing...

Bikes, Bikes, Bikes....

Brigg got a "new" used bike. Paul's co-worker was getting rid of it and it was a PERFECT fit for Brigg. His was getting very very small. So because he got a new bike, Nalani inherited his "Number 8" bike. Paul put the training wheels back on a viola!...everyone is happy.

Finally

Jennie and Sean did not get either of the babies in Virginia. They are relieved that the wait is over! Go to japeakin.blogspot.com for more details. They are handling it beautifully. I'm just anxious to meet my new niece or nephew very very soon.

I know, I know...it's 1:21

still no word.
i'll let you know when i hear the news....

Today

The latest on the adoption homefront for Jennie and Sean....
They got a call yesterday and their social worker told them the field had been narrowed down either "by and few" or "to a few" (Sean couldn't remember) and they are still in the running. The birthmother was taking home the remaining profiles and looking them over with some family. She had an appointment this morning at 9:00 am Iowa time and Jennie's social worker thought she would have an answer by 1:00 pm. Very exciting stuff! Another added piece of info....
The social worker in Virginia said they just got a new client who had delievered a little boy on Sept 22. She is a college student and the child was the product of a one night stand. The baby is still in the hospital, but should be released in the next day or two. She does not want him to be in foster care for more than a day or two. The social worker said Jennie and Sean's profile was a match for her as well. So if the mother of the twins does not select them, their profile will be shown to the college student ASAP. So they may still be going to VA anyway!
So we are still waiting and praying for news SOON. The wait is agonizing and a rollercoaster for Jennie and Sean. I will update when I get word. Until the, we are just trying to keep busy and stay distracted!

Our Morning....

We got a tree cut down. A HUGE, old, dead tree.
This is our view from our bedroom this morning. Going... Going...
Gone...
The view from our bedroom now...
They are still working on the stump, but otherwise it is outta here! Posted by Picasa

On Pins and Needles

For those of you who do not know, Jennie and Sean are being considered by a birth mother in Virginia to adopt her TWIN boy and girl. They were called on Wednesday last week to see they would want their profile sent to Virginia because they were a match for this birth mother. The birth mother had seen their condensed profile online and liked them and wanted to see their full profile. As of last week, she was only going to be looking and Jennie and Sean's and one other. Jennie got an email over the weekend and they said the mother had and appointment today at the agency to review the profiles. So we wait. It is awful. Scenarios racing through our brains and lots of phone calls to distract. If I feel this way, I cannot imagine how Jennie and Sean feel!

A few more details--
-The babies were born Sept. 12
-They are black
-The papers have already been signed and they are in foster care
-If Jennie and Sean are selected, they will have to go to VA for 1-2 weeks
-Today is Jennie and Sean's anniversary!

That's about all I got. Every time my phone rings I feel like I'm going to puke. I'll update when I get word. Just pray for peace...not matter what the outcome. It's very hard to guard your heart at this point....

Livin' It

We went to an extreme sports demo this afternoon. Stephen Balwin was the Emcee... There was a skateboard demo...
and a BMX demo....
the boys were freaking...
Even with the rain, it was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Brigg has new aspirations for himself. I'm scared. Posted by Picasa

Jesus Loves the Little Children

Some cute pics from the past couple of days...

We hit McDonalds with Max on Wednesday... We had our first camp fire of the year on our new patio on Wednesday night...
Nalani complained of smoke in her eyes and Harley jumped up and put her paws on the very hot fire pit....
I got in some reading with Harley as my pillow....
I haven't had internet for the past 30 hours or so. I was going nuts, but finally called the power company and it was their problem. Problem solved! Posted by Picasa

I get first dibs...

He sat quietly with Lani and watched High School Musical. They harmonized very well...He played the guitar and smiled sweetly when I asked him to....
He vacuumed every inch of carpet in my house....
He's just so darn cute...
Although I didn't get photos of this, he also played great with Brigg and laughed a lot. He followed every rule I gave him for riding his bike safely in our neighborhood and I didn't even have to repeat the rules once and he was PERFECT on our outing to the grocery store. Jody and Andy, if you ever want to get rid of him, I get first dibs!! Posted by Picasa

Brigg's Idea

We left group last night and went to pick up the kids and mom and dad's. We stayed and chatted for a while and watched "Deal or No Deal" (which I had never seen before). When we left their house, it was getting pretty late for the kids. It was really chilly out, but very clear. We were walking in the house from the car and Brigg looked up at the sky and said, "Look at the stars! Can we get a blanket and lay in the grass and look at the stars?" We said yes. It lengthened their day by about 15 minutes, but it was well worth it. We laid on our backs, snuggled in to some blankets and talked about space. Lani thinks their is a planet out there that has all dragonflies and butterflies on it and Brigg now wants to be an astronaut. It was a great idea. Although I was tired and knew the kids should be in bed, I'm so glad we said yes against our better judgement....sometimes I think the kids' judgement is better than ours! Posted by Picasa

Use #3 for the Couch....

Paul's co-workers said the couch is for sitting or laying. My kids seem to think it has a third use. Hey, whatever works.
