Our Journey to Nowhere
It started out as a very innocent trip to the park. We brought snacks and water. Dawson brought a jar that he wanted to fill with snakes and frogs. He kept saying "C'mon Mom, is it time for a hike yet?" and "Mom, when are we going to go on a hike?" We caved in and off we went....2 moms, 5 boys and one little girl...happily skipping into the woods. About a half hour into it, things turned ugly. Every corner we turned looked the same. We came to a dead end and through the trees all we could see was a huge corn field. Jody needed to be at church and I was expecting company for supper. We were without cell phones OR camera. We started to giggle a little bit and the boys (and girl) were depending on us to show them the way out. We had no clue! Out of the blue a little boy's voice yells "I DON'T WANT TO DIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!" We could no longer contain ourselves. We laughed out of control and tears rolled down our cheeks. I truly almost wet my pants. Another voice yells "SOMEONE CALL 911!" Another cries out "I think we all need to drop to our knees and PRAY!" I know Jody and I were praying. And finally, we rounded a corner and we saw something familiar! We had made it! It was a great way to spend Saturday afternoon. And I think Jody even made it to church on time! You wouldn't believe the parts of town that I didn't even know existed!
