It's all about the tradition....

Even if all the leaves had fallen and the apples were rotten, it wouldn't matter. Somehow over the past 6 years this has become our family tradition. Rain or shine, frost or heat, we know that one of the first 2 weekends in October, we will be going to Wisconsin to check out the fall colors and eat apples right off the tree. We know mom will bring homemade carmels and we will watch the Hawks play on a big screen TV at Michaels Pub in Gays Mills. We know we will have a big bowl of candy corn and peanuts and eat broasted chicken one night. We know that we'll go pick our own apples and then stop off at another orchard to buy apple cider and cheese curds. AND, we know that HUNDREDS of photos will be taken over the course of 3 days. It's a good feeling. Read the following in "Romancing Your Child's Heart" by Monte Swan...
"Traditions build feelings of security in a child, and our relationships with our children grow as we experience things together. Traditions say we all belong to something bigger-something of deeper significance than Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Our shared experiences will draw them in, captivating their affections and romancing them to God."
I like that...security, belonging to something bigger and deeper, captivating, romancing. Good stuff.... Posted by Picasa

I'm impressed and admire that your sister would take a new baby away from home on a trip! I don't have it that together yet. Good for them!
